In between worlds

we have come to meet the dawn

no longer under the heavy blanket of darkness,

we find ourselves renewed in the anticipation of

fresh light, warm milk, and senses glory

in between worlds,

we allow the pressure of this portal to wring us out

to shake loose the ashes of last season’s lament

we watch in wonder as we are made flexible, pliable

stretching open to meet the sun

in glimmer and glee, we drink up the first rays of a new day

like long lost sap

the birds sing it, the body knows it

surrendering to the dance of waves,

we are guided through the birth portal

swaying with currents,

the tides pull us in until we wash up upon the shore

ready and willing to begin again
